Today's "DT" carries an article called "Father said no - but I've done it at last", an interview with Helen Tew. She has just sailed her small boat across the Atlantic, at the age of 88.
Father, who said no in 1934, was Douglas Graham, who made a celebrated solo transatlantic voyage in the seven-tonner Emanuel. He published a book about it, Rough Passage, which AR reviewed most enthusiastically in "The Observer" in 1936.
The review is reprinted in Amazon Publications' Blue Water Sailing, which also notes that the book was No.9 in the Mariner's Library.
