Oh - as to the origins of the name of the boats, someone asked earlier - Swallow was one of AR's own boats... Amazon is more interesting - possibly just so that the girls could be called the Amazons - and possibly because of women's revolutionary brigade in Russia called the Amazons to which Evgenia belonged?
