Just reading an article (by time warp) in the July 23 edition of "Maclean's" (Canada's effort at being "Time") by Assistant Editor Ann Dowsett Johnston. Describing her move as a child with her family to rural South Africa, she mentions the difficulty in getting books locally, and that she and her sister depended on a Toronto bookstore for their favourite books. The two specified were The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Swallows and Amazons. I have emailed, inviting her to join TARS.
On another thread, I confess that when I read the stories out to my daughters I changed "Titty" to "Kitty" (though they all were told what the real name was). The reason was that the girls liked to "act out" scenes, loudly proclaiming what role they were adopting, and the thought of four small girls running around with one yelling out "I'm Titty, I'm Titty" was a bit disconcerting.
