I agree. The tight plot only concerns four children, and has a 'cinematic' intensity even when you read it in the book. There fewer locations required than in the other stories. Apart from four good child actors, a 'Goblin' type vessel would be needed. Well I know of a boat which looks uncannily like 'Goblin' and could be made available and would benefit greatly from the hire revenue . . .
A Pin Mill look-alike location should be easy to find (what about Pin Mill?), ditto Flushing. The on-board scenes would present no big problems, except for the fog (this can be created) and the storm (this can't, but tends to happen anyway - this would involve eventful location filming but no doubt stand-ins could be used). Much of the above-deck conversation might have to be rewritten to take place below-deck, as this could be filmed in a studio mock-up. A kitten could be hired. If you want a director I'm available. We just need someone to put the money in.
