Peggy definitely gets my vote for the character with the most unrealised potential. It's only in WH [of the lakeland stories] that she gets to do anything on her own bat. I wonder if AR confined Nancy to bed in order to give Peggy a bit of a freer rein? As to the heads [i.e. toilet]in Wild Cat, these things were available in the thirties, but they were by no means common. They were restricted to very classy yachts, which the Wild Cat was not. What was common was a bucket half filled with water with a wooden seat plonked on top. After use the contents were heaved over the side, into the sea. End of problem. No plumbing, leaks, fiddly valves and pumps, etc.
