Though RACUNDRA had many of the hallmarks of the Norwegian pilot boat --
Adlard Coles describes her as 'bluff-bowed, beamy, strong-looking, with the fine
pointed stern that I have always admired in Scandinavian ships' -- she is closer
in design to the shallow-draft Hornbaek boats of the Sound than to the
deep-keeled hvalor-baad, whose descendants included the pilot boat (lodsbaad)
and the sailing lifeboat (redningskoite).
I, too, would like to know more about Eggers and the RACUNDRA. I have Roger
Wardale, Ransome, and Coles at my elbow. Can anyone point me toward other
sources?
