Hadn't noticed the similarity, and I don't have my copy of GN
to check. But its certainly plausible - AR wrote the introduction
to The Cruise of the Teddy in 1933 and implies in that that
he knows Erling Tambs - "Fortunate chance allowed me to read this
book in manuscript...".
Does anyone know if they did know each other, and how? I don't
have a copy of AR's autobiograhy, but Hugh Brogans "Life" makes no
mention of Tambs.
