Can anyone provide any insight/think of any reasons why Ransome made the Swallows and Amazons so much more independent than the Coots and the Eels?
I realize that coots and eels did sleep in their boats or in tents throughout the series. However, it just seems like there is a great deal more adult influence in the adventures of the Coots and Eels than was applied to Swallows and Amazons.
