I know there is a species called Brown Bear, maybe one called Black Bear too.
I don't know of any bear other than the Polar Bear which is white. Maybe an albino brown bear. When I hear the words "white bear" I imagine a Polar Bear. But the expression "white bear" has no definite exclusive meaning. It is like saying "white dog" or "white cat" or "white horse".
In English this exclusiveness of meaning can be conveyed with CAPITAL letters: for example
"Brown Bear" means that particular species of bear
"brown bear" means any bear which happens to be brown [even a Polar Bear who fell in a bath full of chocolate]
