Its a funny thought, but now that I think of it, I share John Wilson Smith's [non-] experience: I dont recall waking up as a child and wondering where I was.
A similar experience which I did have just a few months ago was waking up in a hospital after a general anaesthetic, I was in quite a different place to where the stuff was administered, so I had moved "in my sleep". I believe I actually shouted or squealed when I woke up, because I remember the feeling of panic and a stampede of nurses coming to reassure me. So if Dot etc really didnt know where they were [because they had forgotton during their slelep] the shock can certainly be quite profound.
