The “Teddy”, a former Norwegian pilot cutter, is described by Erling Tambs as being 40 feet long and of 25 tons. There is one main cabin with two bunks on each side. So AR probably had her in mind for the “Sea Bear” in GN, but has expanded her internally with extra bunks to sleep all the crew, with six in the main cabin plus three (or at least Captain Flint & John) aft. But who knows where Roger is!

In his introduction to “The Cruise of the Teddy” AR modestly said that
as a seaman he is neither able-bodied nor experienced.
