In my early youth, in the mid-forties, car ownership in Britain was very much the exception, like having a telephone. Being able to drive one of these contrations was similarly rare. I can only assume that during the early thirties this was even more the case. I have also understood that AR used his own Trojan as the model for "Rattletrap". The Trojan was an idiosyncratic car in a time when cars differed very widely from each other. I feel a "Mixed Moss" article coming on, so I won't go into it more now.
