Drabbed Bawlor -- not directly AR-related

In Angela Thirkell's "Summer Half" Page 103 (paperback), a character refers to "Genuine scholar gypsies; baked hedgehogs, drabbed bawlor, poisoned cake ..."

We have absolutely no idea what "Drabbed Bawlor" might be and hope that somebody out there might know, even though this isn't precisely an AR-related item. (And it sounds even less appetizing than squashed fly biscuits, whatever it is.)
