Good idea, but I think the copyright people at the BBC would have a fit if they found us doing that in any sort of organised way.

The BBC (indeed most channels) do actually sell TV shows on a one-off basis, and make them available on VHS or occasionally a more studio-quality format, although the cost is usually in excess of £100 per show. They often refuse to sell to the general public as well, so you may need to either know or pose as a producer.

It could be theoretically possible for a library similar to the TARS book library to be built up of interesting TV shows that are unlikely to be shown again or made available as a general release video. I'm sure there are quite a few programs on or about Ransome broadcast over the years.
