Dear People: Was thrilled to stumble across this organization.
Would love to hear more about the Society, objectives, activities, etc.
As a child, my Mum, a librarian, brought home the Swallows and Amazons and that was it for me.
Went through the entire series; 'played' SA on my own, wishing for
siblings and a lake. Much later was fortunate enough to visit the
Lake District and meandered around Windermere and Conniston
'wondering' if indeedy I was tramping Ransome territory. Would head
for the lakeshore to dip hands up to the wrists as he did as a welcome
return. What a marvellous person he must have been. Was also
fortunate enough to visit a wonderful author, Alan Garner, who had
purchased, at an auction, Arthur Ransome's samovar used during the
Baltic cruises on the Racundra. It was quite a thrill to lay hands
on it.
Do not know if anyone is interested in these ramblings. Simply
lovely to know there are people out there who were and continue to be
delighted with this terrific series.
