Ed - if you are the author, congratulations on the excerpt - is there any possibility of a complete work being published one day ? (with the approval of AR's literary executors, of course).
Regarding the language problem - how about if Timothy had taken the Amazons on a prospecting trip to North America and Nancy picked up some of the nuances of AmerEnglish ? That could be where their romance blossomed. Peggy would, of course, have started speaking the same way once Nancy had done so.
