David Shelton: The idea that "my" Nancy could give even a second glance
to the diffident aging Timothy is beyond my belief.
Me: Amusing to see this group showing the first hints of developing in
the direction of the Harry Potter online fandom, which is characterised by
(a) immense volumes of fan fiction (some of it surprisingly good),
(b) bitter wars over whether Hermione will end up with Ron or with Harry.
(With Ron, of course.)
For my part, as I think I've said here before, I detect elements of John
having a crush on Nancy arising from his admiration for her seamanship
and general masterfulness. But I don't know how things would turn out
when they're older.
