Actually the comnplex actions of pumping a Baby Blake in a seaway can easily bring on the affliction which hit Titty and Susan in WD! I have always looked at the head in Nancy Blackett, right in the bows of the ship, with some horror and wonder if this was one reason why Evgenia disliked her. One might even think, if AR had mentioned such things, that during that night at sea there might have been dialogue on lines such as: "Go on, Titty" said Susan angrily "Use the bucket - John and Roger aren't looking"

And indeed this is the solution that I personally have always found the most convenient and hygenic - as well as being the cheapest. But not of course on inland waterways.
