Duncan, I think if you look at "posted by" line you will realise who bites his beard although, here in the High Peak we prefer to think of, ourselves as Northerners...
Personally, I am more curious as to why some AR devotees find the subject of class in his works "distasteful" than interested in proving them wrong. I wonder what this sociological flat earthism tells us about the way we read AR today. I only get cross when it is implied that using class to discuss the books is somehow illegitimate.
But of course, no one is obliged to rise to the bait and expound on why they find things distasteful.
