While I have no wish to be sucked into PR maelstrom, recent exchanges have finally prompted me to issue a plea about a long-standing irritant.

When TARBoarders reply to a posting, would they please signal any change or addition of topic in the Subject Title.

Especially now that the Board is up and running hard with multiple postings a day I do tend to avoid logging on the postings that from their title look uninteresting (to me -- feel free to discuss the minutiae of boat design all you like). It is then frustrating to find that for some time a thread entitled (say) "The precise method to shape a mast by hand" (which topic probably sends a frisson of excitement down some spines) has for some time been discussing (say) just how fat Captain Flint really was (now there's something I can relate to personally).

So please, folks, indicate in the Subject Title if you've changed topics or added a new topic.

On a hotter topic, it seems to me that as Ian is giving up his time to operate this discussion forum and (as he has more than once pointed out) is not a TARS hireling, he has the right to make the rules. If you are not happy, start your own discussion group. I, for one, would like to see this remain a forum to talk about AR (and related topics), not TARS.
