This is a bit off topic but: In order to maintain this web site stuff on Ransome I had to learn Dreamweaver and HTML (Do not ask I do not find it fun - well ok a little bit). And our web people lock the source site up in a UNIX location and it takes 2 days to upload my stuff to the site. I have to burn it to a CD, put on my sneakers and then walk downstairs and leave it with the people. Also any capitals sends the UNIX into fits.

So I created a second student type site on the University computer so I can test the stuff.

So now Anne put me onto Netscape so that I can use its good source code reveal features. (It is almost legalized larceny. By the way thanks Ian for the gif image) I have even been reading HTML Code for Dummies (which is the best book I have found on the matter - much better than the help files) , the nice thing was it said I was doing some things right.

But I am having trouble getting Netscape to fill in the boxes properly, so that so far I am Sydney and now Nichols. Hopefully I can work out how to fix it. But if you see me turn up as strange names, trust me I will keep going till I crack it. A bit like Ian and the motor. (Where was Tom Dudgeon when you really needed him.)

Someone made a comment a few days that Dick was young to know so much chemistry. It is interesting that of all the characters I think one gets into the minds of the youngest ones the most, especially in their thoughts as Ransome takes them on some special adventure.

Well I had a chemistry Professor at the Australian National University whose 12 year old son came in and said to his Dad, "I have made nitorglycerine"

The Father did not believe his son could do it and said so.

The boy put the nitro on the family fence and stood back and fired his slug gun at the test tube. Professor said it left a nice hole in the fence.

I have never been sure if the Professor was not just giving us a lecture on safety, but I have never doubted a bright 12 year old can do a lot of good. My 13 year old certainly knows a lot.
