Camp Skills,

I would have thought that the children would have had practice at lighting fires in fireplaces at home from about the age of 9. So Susan and John probably had some practice. Their Aussie mother probably showed them those skills. As she tells them stories - that is how we learn. Hence my 8 yr old is quite comfortable on the puter, which is an adult skill.

I was shown at a young age in the Aussie bush how to start a fire with one match and twigs. (Now I use a butane torch that pumps out a 50 mm flame. -- But I would like to think I still have the old skills). Even though I am not 100 percent certain. Ah those were the days - well ok we got the fire out before we set fire to the whole hill side and John only burned his hand once, but we had fun. We were about nine.

John
