I came to Ransome through reading Great Northern - the cover attracted a potential young twitcher. The contents pleased me enough to read all the others, leaving SA until last!
John, I didn't enjoy Missee Lee when I was that age either - I was appalled that he burnt Wild Cat and left them at the mercy of a bunch of pirates that were using them as bargaining tools. I re-read it later and thought it was marvelous, but I haven't read Great Northern recently. The recent article has made me want to re-read and analyse. The first part of that sentence is fine, but I'm not sure whether I really want to analyse it for faults/inconsistencies!
