Hugh Brogan’s Biography (which I have just reborrowed from the library) says that Genia collaborated with Kaye Webb of Puffin Books in bringing out paperback editions of AR’s stories. After the 1951 Leeds honorary doctorate he was “Dr Ransome” for the rest of his life, and Genia was equally firm on this. His CBE was in 1953.

But he only found that the 1948 honorary degree from Durham was to be just an MA (because of the Professor of English at Durham) when he appeared at the ceremony, and he told Cape never to mention the honorary MA in Whos Who or anywhere else (page 419-420 & 434).

Page 208 has a 1918 photo of the two “EP’s” who Arthur was perhaps a little hard put to choose between; Evegenia and her sister Iraida (Eraida). In the photo Evgenia has a snake - and a pipe!
