I have to say when I see the name I instantly think of Margo Ledbetter of The Good Life! Maybe AR named Margoletta for the same reason - it was the sort of frilly yet contemporary name in vogue between the wars that would horrify the John,Susan,Mary brigade.
Of course, that is only my perspective. Maybe his worst enemy at school was a Margoletta!
