It sounds like the sort of 'noble' text children once learned to support the notion that obedience to parents came above all things except the king and god.
Just a pity the child wasn't taught some common sense instead of sitting around waiting when it was obvious dad wasn't either able or inclined to answer.
I never did rate pointless sacrifice high.
