More than enough. Working as a rigger at Mystic Seaport Museum, where we used a lot of both hemp and manila, I had several occasions to learn that hemp, even when well tarred, is not so strong or as durable as its successors. (I didn't do any unintentional skydiving, but I had a couple near misses.)

A very good observation --and a reminder to all of us to maintain our chain lockers.
