OWLS - OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY WORD AND LANGUAGE SERVICE - is the place to write. All/most OEDs have an invitation to do so on their dust covers. I'm sure they won't mind if I quote it:

"Do you have a query about words, their origin, meaning, use, spelling, pronunciation, or any other aspect of the English language? Then write to OWLS at Oxford University Press, Walton Street, Oxford, OX2 6DP. All queries will be answered using the full resources of the Oxford English Dictionary data base...."

They have even responded to my uninformed bleatings, so I'm sure they will to all you TARS literati!

(Even MY Chambers (Robert Dilley to note)doesn't list turmot.)
