One thing that hasn't been mentioned in this thread is that the
Red Fox covers attract new readers. Roger Wardale wrote about
this some years ago - I think it was in an early "Mixed Moss".
Those of us brought up on the original covers think they are
unbeatable, but to young readers of today they look old-
fashioned. The Red Fox covers show something exciting going on,
and once readers have got inside the book, the (unchanged) text
will carry them on.
