I've remembered something else about Camp Coffee.
In the 1940s (and possibly earlier) almost every railway station in Britain displayed little posters for it.
They were on metal plates fastened to the vertical face of the platform, so that you could read them while waiting for a train on the opposite side of the track. They said: CAMP COFFEE is the Best.
Naturally I grew up to believe this.
Usually they alternated with similar advertisments for Virol, which had a variety of alarming slogans (Anaemic children need it, Nursing mothers need it). Virol was Extract of Malt, as fed to Roo by Kanga.
