Thanks, Alan. I was met with blank stares in the Lake District and in Hampshire as well as in Cork across the Irish Sea whenever I asked for cream. It's good to know, however, that cream IS available somewhere in England, and possibly, in Ireland. I have travelled quite a bit, and deplore the attutude of some travellers who complain tht they can't get exactly what they usually have at home, yet here am I doing the same thing.
My only excuse is that for some people (including me) a breakfast coffee is essential for a kick start in the mornings, while decent beer is necessary to bring the day to a successful conclusion. At least I could always get Scotch and Irish whiskey AND GUINNESS - but not for breakfast.
