I'm starting to agree with Jonathan: but I used an identical fitting for about 10 years on my previous boat.

It was the swivel - the middle bit - that broke. The fitting had jaws at each end which were secured to the chain and anchor respectively with 5/16" bolts and Nylock nuts.

I believe I need a swivel - not for anchoring, but so I can rotate the anchor so that it lines up with the bow roller when hauling it up.
The new swivel system will be at least one size bigger.

If anyone wishes, they can go to www.westmarine.com and look up part number 289770 which is said to have a 5:1 safety factor and 2,000 pound working load. I think I'll go to the 3/8" model!

(I had the receipts for the swivel/shackle, anchor and bow roller, and West Marine made good for a new anchor and reimbursed the cost of the swivel/shackle - that is good service.)
