Pardon me breaking into the thread higher up, but I wanted to return to my point about UK 'Lake' brochures being much the same as US ones, as regards absence of AR mentions. I now have a National Trust leaflet - 'Great Days Out in the Lake District'. The attractions listed, each to a page, are: Acorn Bank Garden (nr Penrith), Fell Foot Park (Newby Bridge), Hill Top (nr Hawkshead - BP lived there), Beatrix Potter Gallery (blasted BP again!), Wordsworth House (Cockermouth), Townend (Troutbeck, and a terrific place), Sizergh Castle, and . . .Gondola - might there here be just one small AR ref, bearing in mind that Gondola, combined with Esperance, is considered to be the inspiration for the House Boat? No, nothing.
I would still prefer AR unexploited, but surely a little mention on the Gondola page? Does anyone agree?
