AR: The story of the River includes a romance of sorts between a boy and a girl. The boy is talking about the romance as an old man in the story. It is a natural part of the story and I think AR handled it well, as he handled most human interest things. It was gentle and kind part of the story and fitted in well. It is not Mills and Boon but we do not want that level of romance.
In the end AR has them married that mcuh was obvious. Why he never finished that story is another of lifes mysteries. Nice beginning. The salmon story is a classic yarn.

Texans are nice and polite and wonderful to teach.

The aborigines I have met were nice. Considering the level of violence against them they are a positive people.

Of course anyone drunk is obnoxious, which form the basis for the usual comments about our indegenous people.
