Speaking of ingenuity, one of the rites of young manhood when I was a boy
was to slide down the hill standing on a grain scoop - a huge shovel.
We tied a rope to the handle to keep the scoop at the right angle to slide
properly. It was a fairly bumpy hill. I usually came off at the first jump.
