Portia?

I was reading The Big Six recently and found myself perplexed over a
reference.
In The Big Six, on page 279 Dr. Dudgeon says:

"Well, put your evidence together as well as you can. I wish you luck. You
your young Portia."

And on page 281-2 Tom, relaying the conversation with his father
to the younger Coots, says:

" 'But all the same Uncle Frank thinks it was the Death and Glories at
the bottom of everything. And if we can't persuade Uncle Frank tomorrow
that it wasn't, Dad thinks he's got to let Tedder have his summonses. Dad's
pretty upset about it too. He called you Portia by mistake, instead of
Dorothea.'
Dorothea blushed. She understood but she did not explain."

I really wished she would've explained because I have no idea who
Portia is! Any ideas?
