I think most English speakers, some without knowing it, are multi-lingual when it comes to accents. School accent is certainly still one as is 'phone' accent.
I believe I've mentioned before that my daughter who lives and works on London has a 'posh' English accent for the store in Kensington, a mid-English accent for the branch in North London and a kiwi accent when she talks to her flatmates or family. Funny, when she answers the phone, its always the 'posh' one!
