The BBC has been making inaccurate programmes
Why sound so surprised? What's new? It suits the present-day BBC to distort and mock its origins. I could say a lot more (and I have documentary evidence) but I am conscious that this all completely off-topic for Tarboard, so I'll leave it there.

(Except to say that I once read in a non-BBC history of broadcasting that an announcer, Stuart Hibberd, was going to a formal dinner party after his news shift was over, so he wore a DJ while reading the news. Thus, the legend took root.)
