The following is from YACHTING MONTHLY, January 2002, which I found in my marina's laundry room book/magazine exchange.
The 103-year-old wherry Albion has been lifted out for extensive repairs to the hull. The work is being undertaken at the Excelsior Yard on the banks of Lake Lothing and is expected to take at least two months. Together, with her sister wherry Maud, Albion cruises the Broads during summer months. With their distinctive huge black sails they are a popular sight but maintenance is an ever increasing part of preserving these vessels. The Norfolk Wherry Trust expects the costs to exceed L 20,000 and has launched an appeal. For donations or further information, please contact Warren King, Tel:01603461023.
