Well in WD Daddy (Commodore? Walker) is ganging up with their children to placate Mother, who is upset that they went off and then sent her a telegram (instead of phoning) saying they will be away another day.
Of course, the telegram from Holland (ie the Netherlands) had been resent by one of Ted’s friends in England!
