More conventional options are the Little Ship Club, in Bell Wharf Lane, EC4, (I don't know if AR was a member, but would not be surprised to find that he was) and the Cruising Asociation, which in the days when AR was a member was in rooms in Baker Street, but which now has a fine clubhouse in Limehouse Dock, and with which Brian Hammett is "closely associated".

Membership of a City Livery Company is not required for either, and both offer economical bunk rooms for overnight stays in London.
