A high point of my trip last June was the new Keswick Lakeside Theater - assoc. with Judy Dench etc. where I saw "Spiderwoman".
This is a beautiful Lottery financed theater with a lovely coffee bar. You find it by heading down to the Lake from the FIRST traffic circle (i.e driving 3/4 the way around, assuming you drive on the left) out of town, signposted "Lakeside" (no theater sign). Has 2 stages. (Reservations not needed in midweek in my experience)
If it is a sexually-risque play (prob. this will never happen again), the telephone lady will quiz you on whether you are up for it. (Can you imagine this in NYC?)
After an evening show, the only restaurant was the Chinese take-away, who sole remaining food -FRied Rice- was just that. Nothing on or in it. I'm sure TARS members will have better recommendations --- (but with directions pls. !! otherwise I'll find myself driving round and round the Moot Hall again ...)
