Dear Robert,

I have no real idea if dowsing is real or not, but have been considering the matter from the viewpoint of a physics buff. Moving water generates a magnetic field - it is called the Hall effect. It is used in measuring water flow now. It is a very small force, but one could detect the movement of divining rod on a very fine balance if the water was started and stopped. If the rod moved the theory is proved if it does not then it leaves us no worse off.

Engrights paper was interesting but failure does not mean it does not exist, merely that we could not measure it.

Just a thought. But to perform the experiments I need a dowsing rod that is actually thought to work.
