Here are the results of a scan of all twelve looking for "mort":

---------- PPCH3.TXT
Dutchies here, and a mort o' folk after that, scratting and

---------- PPCH9.TXT
you. She's a mort to do at home, so she said, so she was off

---------- SDCH30.TXT
a young nephew of mine that has a mort of great-grandchildren

These seem to agree with the definition given by Adam Quinan,
which he states as "a dialect word meaning a large number or
lot of something."

Hope this is the info you were looking for.

There were other "hits" in the scan, but they were on the word
"mortar", which of course is a totally unrelated concept. Most
of these referred to the equipment borrowed from CF's study for
use in the gold mine [PP]. Another mention of "mortar" in the
description of the Igloo, saying the stones had none. Another
reference to a stone wall, parts of which the sheep had pulled
down, as the stones were not held with any "mortar" [SD].
