Adam, my own reading is that that picture was drawn from a vantage point somewhere in the middle of the bay. Hnece you don't see the two enclosing points, which are behind the artist.

I agree with you about the false perspective. The dinghy and the beach look okay to me, but the children look Lilliputian.

I remember from the comments last year that someone claimed that Peel Island's landing place was much more open than shown in the S&A map. But of course, as you rightly point out, this is not Peel Island, it's Wild Cat Island.

Finally, not only this drawing but also the text make it clear that the camp can in fact be seen from the landing place, so I've therefore altered the map accordingly (as I've done with the others in a few minor points too -- so I'm afraid that the posted maps are no longer perfectly up-to-date.)
