I had a look through WDMTGTS and Secret water and found one or two illustrations of Sinbad which show he was a striped beastie. Whether he was tabby (brown and white) or grey striped depends on your own inspiration. I presume Titty gave him the once over before calling him Sinbad too, otherwise Sinbad might have ended up being called Nancy, Terror of the Seas!
