I was going to raise the question of JIBE - I have never known it to be spelled anything but GYBE in England apart from AR's usage. However I then found it spelled JIBE in an American Sailing primer I have.
What is the normal American spelling? Are both versions used, or is this another Transatlantic difference?
For what it is worth the Microsoft spellchecker accepts JIBE and challenges GYBE in both the UK English and the US English versions.
