It is not exactly Ontario weather here either. We actually got down to the high fifties (Fahrenheit) a day or two ago; I actually had to go dig out THE sweater! That is over, as now in the middle of the night, it is back to a more respectible 69 F. So much for that bitter cold spell. But then, that is why some people live down here in SOUTH Florida, some twenty minutes away from Ft. Lauderdale. We don't dare go North for the Christmas holidays as we have NO clothing that would be required. That one sweater is all there is in the cold weather department.

I found it interesting to note that when our Ransome friends went to sleep at night in their tents, that it did get a bit cold, even in August. Roger had to wear TWO OF EVERYTHING, when they went on that late night sail to the Amazon river to try to capture the enemy ship. On a similar night here, without the air conditioner roaring away, I would be lying in a puddle of sweat all night long.

The things one learns while persuing "ALL THINGS RANSOME."

Let me take this moment, here on the eve of Christmas, to thank you all for your contributions to this forum, for taking a starting note on one topic and really stretching it into such a variety of results. It has been a great delight for me to take part on TARBOARD, and to be a part of that combined effort. I am physically far away from most of you, so I don't get the pleasure of meeting you in person, and that I regret as I feel there are many new friends there that I would love to swap yarns with one day. Until such a time, I must be content to see just your words of wisdom, and take a daily dose of LAKELANDCAM.CO.UK which is a great lift especially for one so far away from that beautiful land. I owe much of my learning years to the lessons that Ransome taught me, and it came without me having to STUDY HARD. It has been a blessing to be a part of these works, even though a bit after the fact.

To each of you, in all parts of this wonderful world, have a very Merry Christmas, and my best wishes for a Happy New Year! Three Million Cheers! Swallows and Amazons forever!

Ed Kiser, South Florida
