That is as maybe. but the ones living on boats don't like the environment, perhaps its the combination of wet/dry, low saline (due to the freshwater river) and moving through the water at intervals.

My father saved a lot of money not using antifouling paint and didn't drop lots of toxic material into the water and never had a problem with marine growth.
