I agree with most of what you have said, each book is a new experience. I suppose I just relate more to the 'lake' books as
(i) They were the first I read
(ii)I have spent a lot of time camping\walking\climbing in the Lakes and ahve never been to the Broads.
I also agree that series of books can become very repetative, but even knowing this I would love to read about the 'missing' lakes holidays that the children had eg. the rest of the summer after Picts.
